Reaching out to our community is one of the most important aspects of this robotics team. Through various programs, which we call outreach, our team focuses on spreading word about what STEAM is and why it is so important, inside the playing field and out of it. There is so much more to Robotics than just building robots, it is also about teaching life skills that are crucial in every field of study such as communication skills, making connections, learning to create innovative plans and following those plans. With these skills in mind, we plan on creating programs that help those who do not have regular access to robotics, which is our goal with STEAM access, and reaching out to students to inspire a passion for robotics everywhere we go. STEAM access is a program about science, technology, engineering, arts and math, that focuses on educating students with special needs, who are at risk, and who do not have means to attend meetings. Our team’s main focus is on teaching and guiding these students about what they need to know and understand that is outside of the general curriculum. Using these programs, our team aims to reach out to as many people as we can, not just in our direct community, but also around the world.
Spreading word about whatever we do is a big priority for us, even if it’s just in local news stations and newspapers or through social media. We love to spread the our news wherever we go! Just recently, when we traveled to Houston, Texas for the World Championships in 2017, we had the opportunity to speak with the Robotics Competition News Channel about our experiences and our new VR headset.
